Comp. track team runs into tough competition in Moose Jaw
The Swift Current Comp. Colt and Ardens track and field team attended a 30team meet in Moose Jaw on Saturday and finished sixth in the overall team standings. They ran into some tough competition at Gutheridge Field but the Colts and Ardens were able to produce 19 podium finishes in Moose Jaw.
Leading the way for the Ardens was grade 11 sprinter Jade Addai. She won the Senior Girls 100 Metre Dash in 12.64 seconds, almost a full second ahead of her nearest competitor. Addai added another win in the 80 Metre Hurdles in 12.22 seconds. She was also a part of the 4x100 Metre Relay team that won gold in 56.36 seconds.
The Ardens also placed third in the Senior Girls 4x400 Metre Relay in 5:22.03.
Swift Current's Allison Girardeau ran her way to a couple of podium finishes as well. She placed third in the Junior Girls 100 Metre Dash in 13.81 seconds and then added another thirdplace finish in the 200 Metre Dash in 30.06 seconds.
Karley Patenaude was also a double winner for the Ardens when she placed third in the Junior Girls 1500 Metre Run in 6:02.30 and the 3000 Metre Run in 13:11.81.
Rhyse Coward added a pair of second-place finishes for the Ardens. She was second in Junior Girls Shot Put with a 9.02-metre effort and second in Discus Throw after a top throw of 24.21 metres.
Malisa Collier placed third in the Midget Girls 400 Metre Run in 1:10.14. Teammate Bailey Wilson rounded out the Ardens' top-three results when she placed second in Midget Girls Javelin Throw with a 23.47-metre throw.
The Colts were confined to six top-three results from three male athletes. Leading the way was Kyle Tisdale with a win in Junior Boys Triple Jump after he travelled 11.90 metres to finish well ahead of the field. Tisdale also placed third in Long Jump with a 5.27metre top jump and was third in the 400 Metre Run in 55.96 seconds.
Reagan Martin also had a good meet for the Colts with a second-place finish in the Junior Boys 200 Metre Dash in 24.71 seconds. He placed third in the 100 Metre Dash in 11.65 seconds.
Eric Wiebe rounded out the podium results with a third-place showing in Midget Boys 100 Metre Hurdles when he finished in 17.58 seconds.
The Swift Current Comp. team will be in Weyburn this weekend for another meet.
