Young ath­letes set the pace at White­mud Sec­tional Track meet

With only a sin­gle se­nior age di­vi­sion record fall­ing dur­ing the White­mud Sec­tional Track and Field meet hosted in Fron­tier on May 19, it was the younger track ath­letes which shone dur­ing a se­ries of record break­ing events.

Nixen Voll from Shau­navon set a trio of records in the Mid­get Boys age di­vi­sion. He turned in a time of 12.59 sec­onds in the 100 me­tre fi­nal to break the for­mer mark of 12.85 sec. from 2012. His time of 15.20 sec­onds in the 100 me­tre hur­dles eclipsed the for­mer time of 15.53 sec­onds from 2013. He also set a new stan­dard of 11.26 me­tres in the triple jump to break the for­mer stan­dard by six cen­time­tres.

Seven new mid­get age di­vi­sion records were set dur­ing the ideal weather con­di­tions dur­ing last Tues­day's meet which fea­tured ath­letes from Shau­navon, Fron­tier, Con­sul, Eas­tend, and Val Marie.

Fron­tier's Ju­lia Dixon new record in the Mid­get Girls 100 me­tre sprint, win­ning in a time of 14.59 sec­onds to eclipse the mark of 14.68 sec­onds from 2012.

Tenelle Lind of Shau­navon set a new stan­dard in the Mid­get Girls 1,500 me­tre race, fin­ish­ing the race in 6:06.56 min­utes to eas­ily beat the for­mer mark of 6:13.60 set in 1985.

There was also a new best per­for­mance in the Mid­get Girls Triple Jump. Kort­lyn Fuller from Shau­navon set a new mark of 9.74 me­tres to beat the for­mer mark from 1981 by a full 10 cen­time­tres.

Zane Tully set an im­pres­sive new stan­dard in the Ban­tam Boys 3000 me­tre. His time of 11:37.95 min­utes took over 30 sec­onds off the pre­vi­ous mark of 12:12.60 min­utes set back in 2002.

The Tre­mere from Shau­navon recorded a 15.20 sec­ond fin­ish in the Ban­tam Boys 100 me­tre hur­dles to erase the for­mer mark of 15.53 set in 2013.

Joy Barsness from Fron­tier is the new holder of the Ju­nior Girls 100 me­tre sprint in a time of 15.13 sec­onds, break­ing the old mark of 16.30 sec­ond from 2012.

Shau­navon's Jor­dan Voll equalled the best time in the Ju­nior Boys 100 me­tre sprint, turn­ing in a time of 11.80 sec­onds to equal the mark which dates back to 1991.

Eas­tend's Abby Bris­tow set a new record time in the Se­nior Girls 3000 me­tre run, turn­ing in a time of 13:39.18 min­utes to edge the for­mer mark of 15:47.00 which was set back in 1981.
