The Southwest Booster

Farmer’s Daughter Interiors and Design earns new blog award

-

“I think at the end of the day it’s truly about helping people create homes that they just love to live in. And so if growing my blog provides another platform through which I can help people, then I’m going to continue to do that.”

Grose completed a business degree at Mount Royal in Calgary, but even when she was involved in her business classes she began taking an interior decorating correspondence course to pursue her creative aspirations.

“I’d always loved interior decorating and interior design. Almost on a whim I started taking this course, and it turned into something that I really loved. I found that it was feeding that creative need that I had that my business degree wasn’t really.”

She worked in a retail design business as well as an interior design firm in Calgary, but she had always dreamed of eventually owning her own business.

Grose, who grew up on a grain farm 20 minutes south of Swift Current, picked the Southwest as the location to launch her decorating and interior design consulting business. “I think Swift Current, and Saskatchewan in general, is ready for this,” she said. “They’re just as in-tune with design as some of the bigger centres are.”

“With our climate being the way it is, we spend so much time in our homes. And I feel like interior design services are something that’s worth investing in. And I think people here are starting to see that too.”

She hopes her blog continues to be a key method of reaching out to people across the Southwest.

“It allows me to share helpful information with readers who may not be able to hire me directly,” she said. “Whether it’s location that would prevent them from that, or budget or timing, it’s still a way to engage with that person and hopefully still help them in their house or give them a useful idea.”

Her blog can be found via her website www.farmersdaughterinteriors.com, and she can also be followed on Facebook (www.facebook.com/farmersdaughterinteriors); Instagram (www.instagram.com/farmersdaughterinteriors/) and Pinterest (www.pinterest.com/ fdinteriors/).
