15U Sun­dogs win pro­vin­cial ti­tle

Af­ter win­ning only once in their open­ing three matches, the Swift Cur­rent 15U Ju­nior Sun­dogs girls vol­ley­ball team won their fi­nal three matches to win provin­cials in Saska­toon.

They had fin­ished with a 1-2 record in the round robin with a win over HVC Green (25-21, 25-18), and losses to the Prince Al­bert Top­pers En Fuego (14-25, 22-25), and the Oxbow Black Knights (20-25, 19-25).

They opened the play­offs with a quar­ter-fi­nal win over the Bat­tle­ford Vol­ley­ball Club (25-19, 25-23) and then de­feated the Regina Cougars Vol­ley­ball Club in the semi­fi­nal (25-15, 25-20).

The 15U Sun­dogs, coached by Liam Choofoo, Travis Kelln, and Shawn Hiebert, took on the Wey­burn Rush in the cham­pi­onship match Sun­day af­ter­noon. They won the open­ing set 25-19 be­fore los­ing the sec­ond set 8-25. The Sun­dogs won the third and de­cid­ing set 15-12 to clinch the pro­vin­cial ti­tle.
