Write Out Loud season wraps up with Regina’s Connie Gault
Connie Gault, whose novel A Beauty, was a long-listed nominee for the Scotia Bank Giller Prize in 2015, will be final author presented in the 2017-2018 Write Out Loud author series.
Gault, a novelist, playwright, and short-story writer, was born in Central Butte and now lives in Regina. Her work is known for its attention to female characters and an interest in rural Saskatchewan life. She’s won numerous awards for her short-story collections, and her plays have been produced in Saskatchewan and Alberta and broadcast on CBC Radio and the BBC World Service. Her first novel, Euphoria, the story of a 19 th century Canadian woman set in Toronto and Regina, won a Saskatchewan Book Award in 2009. She teaches creative writing and mentors emerging writers.
Local “Artist and Agent of Whimsy”, Carolynn Anctil, will present her work in advance of Ms. Gault’s reading. Anctil is a watercolour illustrator and photographer who loves using the creative power of words to conjure mental images.
Write Out Loud commences May 16, at Swift Current’s Lyric Theatre. Admission is $8. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.
