Write Out Loud sea­son wraps up with Regina’s Con­nie Gault

Con­nie Gault, whose novel A Beauty, was a long-listed nom­i­nee for the Sco­tia Bank Giller Prize in 2015, will be fi­nal au­thor pre­sented in the 2017-2018 Write Out Loud au­thor series.

Gault, a nov­el­ist, play­wright, and short-story writer, was born in Cen­tral Butte and now lives in Regina. Her work is known for its at­ten­tion to fe­male char­ac­ters and an in­ter­est in ru­ral Saskatchew­an life. She’s won nu­mer­ous awards for her short-story col­lec­tions, and her plays have been pro­duced in Saskatchew­an and Al­berta and broad­cast on CBC Ra­dio and the BBC World Ser­vice. Her first novel, Eu­pho­ria, the story of a 19 th cen­tury Cana­dian woman set in Toronto and Regina, won a Saskatchew­an Book Award in 2009. She teaches cre­ative writ­ing and men­tors emerg­ing writ­ers.

Lo­cal “Artist and Agent of Whimsy”, Carolynn Anc­til, will present her work in ad­vance of Ms. Gault’s read­ing. Anc­til is a water­colour il­lus­tra­tor and pho­tog­ra­pher who loves us­ing the cre­ative power of words to con­jure men­tal images.

Write Out Loud com­mences May 16, at Swift Cur­rent’s Lyric The­atre. Ad­mis­sion is $8. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.
