CMX Powersports holds grand opening

CMX Powersports had a roaring good time while holding the grand opening of their location on Saturday.

The dealership specializes in Arctic Cat and Kawasaki ATVS, side by sides, watercraft, motorcycles, and snowmobiles. CMX Powersports, a division of Cypress Group, boasts a fresh approach to their operations.

“It’s something we’re trying to take to that next level, just like we’ve done at Cypress Motors,” explained Jason Parsons, Fixed Operations Manager/owner of Cypress Motors. “Our concept here is that we want to have a place where, just like at Cypress Motors, you get follow up service from the service department, parts department, and you get great sales.”

The business had been in the works for a year and a half after they explored the chance to gain the Arctic Cat franchise, while also expanding into bringing the Kawasaki brand to Swift Current.

“We wanted to bring something to Swift Current that was going to be more than just selling you a machine and then maybe not following up as strongly on the service. We think the residents of Swift Current and area deserve to have that.”

“People here actually care about riding. Everyone here rides a machine, they know what it’s like to ride a machine, and they love the sport.”

A unique feature at the hub of the business is a customer lounge.

“It’s a little unusual in a dealership like this to have a lounge,” Parsons admitted. “But that was designed on purpose. We want to have people comfortable.”

“If you’re an enthusiast we want you to come in and have a coffee. We have a big tv screen…if you’ve got video on a Gopro and you want to show us your ride and where you’ve been, that’s what we want to do. We want to be the place where guys come and just hang out and say ‘this is a great ride’ whether its off-trail or on road or water or snow.”

There is also a well used test track which allows customers to know if what they are looking at is the right machine for their needs.

“By having a track over there - it’s nothing challenging, you can go as fast or as slow as you need to - but you can do a decent test, have a feel of what the machine is acting like, performing underneath you, and then make a decision whether that’s the right one for you or not.”

“That fits with the whole concept of giving a little bit more and having a better experience.”

CMX Powersports currently has six employees, and they boast trained technicians for Arctic Cat, Kawasaki and Textron Off Road machines. They are also a Lund Boats consignment location for Moose Jaw RV & Marine.
