with a little bit of a kick. I think that you’ll find Prairie Smoke has a little bit of spice to it,” explained Matraca Ashcroft from Prairie Smoke & Spice.

“We’re all a big family, all the ribbers, but it definitely adds a little bit of bragging rights when you get to bring back that trophy to the booth.”

The Living Sky Casino teamed up with Dr. Noble Irwin Regional Healthcare Foundation as their charity of choice for the weekend. Proceeds from the weekend will be donated to the Foundation.

“I think it has been great. It would have been nice if Mother Nature would have been a little more cooperative, but in terms of the ribbers and the event itself, its been spectacular,” explained Dr. Noble Irwin Regional Healthcare Foundation Executive Director Clay Thompson.

Thompson said the charity component of Ribfest will provide an important summer boost, as the dollars they receive from Ribfest will support their fund-raising efforts to purchase a new portable x-ray machine for the Cypress Regional Hospital.

Ribfest is also the first event in the Foundation’s late summer, fall fundraising efforts. They are working with Elmwood Golf Course on a second golf tournament on September 14. Then on the following week they will be holding their annual Fun Muddy Mayhem, with efforts to make it an even bigger event from the past couple of years.
