The Southwest Booster

Thankful for outpouring of support

Editor:

I came to Swift Current for a new beginning just shy of one year ago with my six children. At first I was quite taken back and not sure if we would fit in here, but within a matter of weeks the Swift Current spirit came alive. People of this community have been the kindest I have come across in so long.

After being here for only seven months I was told that I needed to have brain surgery. As I sit and have to wait for surgery I have had to undergo a lot of trips to the Royal University Hospital in Regina. It is many kilometres of gas, days off work, worrying about the children getting to their schools and their sports. As time passed, and expenses grew, it became very stressful.

This community has overwhelmed me by its kindness. I am a nobody, new to the community, and so many hands and hearts have come and helped my family.

All of the schools came together and gave support, East Side Church of God, Arlie from Etcetera Etcetera, Lori, Charlene, Audrey, Rhi, Marilyn Durant from Acquired Brain Injury Partnership Project, Backstage Dance Studio, the amazing ‘Chargers’ hockey team, coaches, parents, the Stingrays Swim Club crew, and too many other dear friends to even mention. Last, but not least I want to thank all of the doctors and nurses here in Swift Current and the staff in their offices that have had to handle me sometimes in short notice, for a city this certainly feels like a family, a community of caring people, hands and hearts full of love. Thank you from the bottom of my heart! Jen Bauer, Swift Current
