Cowboys amongst leaders at CPRA Canadian Finals

A trio of Southwest cowboys were amongst the top performers in their respective events at the 2018 Canadian Finals Rodeo in Red Deer.

Maple Creek’s Jared Parsonage placed third amongst 12 cowboys in Bull Riding at the Finals when he covered four of six bulls.

Parsonage produced an eight-second ride on Tuesday when he placed seventh with 81.25 points on The Silence. He improved to 83.75 points aboard Darkness on Wednesday to place fourth in round two. He was bucked off Falling Rock on Thursday.

He rebounded on Friday with an 80.75point ride on Monster to place seventh. Parsonage was bucked off by Home Grown on Saturday, but rode Tennesse Whiskey in the sixth round for 84.75 points, fourth on the day. Parsonage earned $7,695 at the Finals and finished the season with $50,135, third most amongst bull riders.

Waldeck’s Tuftin and Tyce Mcleod registered a time in all six rounds to place third at the Finals in Team Roping

The Mcleods placed sixth in the first round on Tuesday in 10.4 seconds. They improved to 6.4 seconds in round two but still placed sixth out of 12 teams. The Mcleods registered a 20-second time on Thursday to place seventh in round three.

Tuftin and Tyce were seventh in round four in 10.5 seconds. They nearly cut their time in half in round five in 5.3 seconds, a score that was only ninth best. The Mcleods finished the sixth round in 10.3 seconds on Sunday. They collected $7,695 for their third-place finish.
