Bantam Broncos win silver at home

The Swift Current Pure Chem Broncos tested themselves against a diverse field during their 12-team Bantam AA tournament over the weekend as they won their first three games to place second.

The Broncos opened the round robin on Friday afternoon with a 7-1 win over Edmonton’s South Side Athletic Club.

Kalan Lind paced the offense with a goal and three assists, followed by three assists from Ayden Lamarre. Dayne Feicht scored twice, while Kane Klassen added a goal and an assist. Nolan Stevenson, Rylan Silzer, and Rylan Williams also scored, while Colton Leahy added an assist.

The Broncos followed up a few hours later with a 9-3 win over Strathcona to win their pool.

Lind led the way with two goals and five assists, followed by three goals and one assist from Feicht and a goal and three assists from Rhett Dekowny.

Riley Bowers scored twice, while Mckale Paul added a single.

Silzer picked up a pair of assists. Stevenson, Leahy, Lamarre, Paul, Carter Lamotte, and Klassen all added assists.

The Bantam Broncos added a 7-1 win over Fort St. John’s NEBC Trackers in the A semifinal on Saturday evening.

Lind led the way with a goal and three assists. Feicht added two goals and one assist, while Silzer and Dekowny each finished with a goal and two assists and Lamotte chipped in a goal and an assist.

Bowers also scored, while Paul, Carter Girodat, Leahy, Klassen, and Daniel Ganert all added assists.

The Broncos took on the Regina Aces in the championsh­ip game and lost 5-2. Dekowny and Rohan Priebe scored with an assist from Lind.

Lind was named the tournament’s Top Forward after finishing with four goals and 12 assists.

The Bantam Broncos currently have a 6-2 record in the Saskatchew­an Bantam AA Hockey League. They return to league action on Dec. 8 in Martensvil­le.
