Legionnaires split with Contacts
The Swift Current Home Hardware Legionnaires split a weekend home stand against the visiting Saskatoon Contacts.
Saturday, the Legionnaires and Contacts were tied 2-2 after two periods before the Legionnaires scored three goals in a 5-3 win.
Ethan Hein made 32 saves to help lead the Legionnaires to the win. Mason Strutt led the attack with two goals and one assist, while Boston Bird added three assists. Reed Jacobson scored twice and defenseman Hendrik de Klerk added two assists.
Jaxon Martens also scored, while Chase Gallant, Lucas Ochitwa, Kersey Reich, and Kaedan Watkins all added assists.
Sunday, the Legionnaires allowed four unanswered goals in a 5-2 loss to the Contacts.
Jacobson and Ochitwa scored 4:28 apart during two-point outings. Boston Bird assisted on both goals. Jacob Herman took the loss despite making 38 saves.
The Legionnaires remain third in the Saskatchewan Midget AAA Hockey League with a 17-6-1-0 record, while the Contacts improved to 13-10-0-0.
The Legionnaires will continue their five-game home stand this weekend against the Moose Jaw Generals on Saturday at 8 p.m.
The Legionnaires will host the Notre Dame Argos on Sunday at 7:30 p.m.
They also host the Regina Pat Canadians on Tuesday at 7:45 p.m.
