“This actually started last weekend when we played Yorkton,” said head coach Rej Stringer. “Something clicked, our effort was incredible. There was some good teams here today. The boys really bought into it. We changed a few things system-wise and they really bought into it. Our effort was just incredible. We were chasing pucks. We made it really difficult, the other teams had some really good players and we made it very tough on them. Our kids earned it. They really deserved this.”

The Broncos averaged nine goals per game over the tournament. “We are a little bit run and gun. One thing we know is that we do score goals. We are a young team. We are young defensively. We have two firstyear goalies. We know we are going to score. We try to average 40 shots a game. We know if we do that we are going to score goals. This weekend we scored a lot of goals,” said Stringer.

The Peewee Broncos (6-4-2) will be on the road this weekend to visit the Weyburn Wings (3-9-2) and the Estevan Bruins (9-5-1) in league action.

The head coach hoped his team could reproduce the performance from the tournament championship going forward.

“I think we just did it. We needed to improve our effort and our consistency and we found that this weekend. We’ve got it right now and now it’s just about building on it and sticking with it.”
