The Swift Current Home Hardware Legionnaires are currently in Calgary for a second straight appearance at the Mac’s AAA Midget World Invitational Tournament.
The Legionnaires opened the 25-team tournament on Boxing Day against the Lethbridge Hurricanes. The Hurricanes lead the Alberta AAA Midget Hockey League with an 18-3-0 record.
The Legionnaires will face the Brampton 45s on Thursday morning. The 45’s are currently last in the South Central AAA Hockey League with a 3-19-0 record.
The Legionnaires will play their third game in as many days on Friday when they battle the Calgary Flames. The Flames are last in the AMHL’S Chrysler Division with an 8-13-2 record.
After a day off, the Legionnaires will take on the Cariboo Cougars on Sunday to conclude the round robin. The Cougars are second in the BC Major Midget Hockey League with a 16-5-3 record.
The Legionnaires finished the 2017 Mac’s Tournament with a 2-1-1 record to narrowly miss the playoffs.
The Legionnaires are currently third in the Saskatchewan Midget AAA Hockey League with a 197-1-0 record under head coach Darren Evjen. They lost 5-3 to the visiting Regina Pat Canadians on Dec. 18 in their final league game of 2018.
