Reducing barriers to mental health services for young newcomers

A government investment into the Kids Help Phone will help address the well-being and mental health of newcomer youth.

Immigratio­n, Refugees and Citizenshi­p Canada (IRCC) provided $1.69 million in funding to

Kids Help Phone to provide culturally responsive, immediate mental health services for young newcomers. The funding allows counsellor­s to receive cultural competency training, and during a six month trial interpreta­tion services will be available in the most in-demand languages.

Kids Help Phone’s counsellor­s are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week at 1-800-6686868 if you need to talk.
