A gov­ern­ment in­vest­ment into the Kids Help Phone will help ad­dress the well-be­ing and men­tal health of new­comer youth.

Im­mi­gra­tion, Refugees and Ci­ti­zen­ship Canada (IRCC) pro­vided $1.69 mil­lion in fund­ing to

Kids Help Phone to pro­vide cul­tur­ally re­spon­sive, im­me­di­ate men­tal health ser­vices for young new­com­ers. The fund­ing al­lows coun­sel­lors to re­ceive cul­tural com­pe­tency train­ing, and dur­ing a six month trial in­ter­pre­ta­tion ser­vices will be avail­able in the most in-de­mand lan­guages.
