Reducing barriers to mental health services for young newcomers
A government investment into the Kids Help Phone will help address the well-being and mental health of newcomer youth.
Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) provided $1.69 million in funding to
Kids Help Phone to provide culturally responsive, immediate mental health services for young newcomers. The funding allows counsellors to receive cultural competency training, and during a six month trial interpretation services will be available in the most in-demand languages.
Kids Help Phone’s counsellors are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week at 1-800-6686868 if you need to talk.
