Canada’s Agriculture Day observed in Swift Current on February 12
Agriculture producers are being asked to stand up and tell their story during Canada’s Agriculture Day on February 12.
The third annual Canada’s Agriculture Day is a celebration of Canada’s agriculture industry and all those who play a role in providing food for our tables. Canada’s agriculture and agri-food sector has an impact of over $110 billion, and one in eight Canadians are employed in the agriculture and agri-food industry.
The Saskatchewan Ministry of Agriculture Regional Office in Swift Current is hosting an Open House from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on February 12 to celebrate the day. Visitors can stop by for a coffee, meet the office specialists at the regional office, and learn about Canadian Agricultural Partnership programming. Open Houses are also being held at the other nine locations across the province.
“It’s our biggest celebration of the year. Canada’s Agriculture Day showcases all the amazing things happening in agriculture and the entire food industry. The day is also about helping consumers see the connection between the food they eat and the people who produce it,” said Debbie Bailey, manager of Agriculture More Than Ever, one of the driving forces behind Canada’s Agriculture Day.
In addition, producers are invited to showcase their own operations via social media in order to share some helpful perceptions of agriculture in Canada. These social media postings can be shared using #Cdnagday #Cdnag #Farmlife.
