Canada’s Agri­cul­ture Day ob­served in Swift Cur­rent on Fe­bru­ary 12

Agri­cul­ture pro­duc­ers are be­ing asked to stand up and tell their story dur­ing Canada’s Agri­cul­ture Day on Fe­bru­ary 12.

The third an­nual Canada’s Agri­cul­ture Day is a cel­e­bra­tion of Canada’s agri­cul­ture industry and all those who play a role in pro­vid­ing food for our ta­bles. Canada’s agri­cul­ture and agri-food sec­tor has an im­pact of over $110 bil­lion, and one in eight Cana­di­ans are em­ployed in the agri­cul­ture and agri-food industry.

The Saskatchew­an Min­istry of Agri­cul­ture Re­gional Of­fice in Swift Cur­rent is host­ing an Open House from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Fe­bru­ary 12 to cel­e­brate the day. Vis­i­tors can stop by for a cof­fee, meet the of­fice specialist­s at the re­gional of­fice, and learn about Cana­dian Agri­cul­tural Part­ner­ship pro­gram­ming. Open Houses are also be­ing held at the other nine lo­ca­tions across the prov­ince.

“It’s our big­gest cel­e­bra­tion of the year. Canada’s Agri­cul­ture Day show­cases all the amaz­ing things hap­pen­ing in agri­cul­ture and the en­tire food industry. The day is also about help­ing con­sumers see the con­nec­tion be­tween the food they eat and the peo­ple who pro­duce it,” said Deb­bie Bai­ley, man­ager of Agri­cul­ture More Than Ever, one of the driv­ing forces be­hind Canada’s Agri­cul­ture Day.

In ad­di­tion, pro­duc­ers are in­vited to show­case their own op­er­a­tions via so­cial me­dia in or­der to share some help­ful per­cep­tions of agri­cul­ture in Canada. Th­ese so­cial me­dia post­ings can be shared us­ing #Cd­nag­day #Cd­nag #Farm­life.
