The Saskatchewan Hockey Hall of Fame (SHHOF) along with the Knight family are proud to announce a contribution of $500,000 to the SHHOF, to be retitled, the Ted Knight Saskatchewan Hockey Hall of Fame. In honour of the late Edward “Ted” Knight, this generous donation will allow the Saskatchewan Hockey Hall of Fame and the Ted Knight legacy to live on for years to come.

Ted Knight’s children’ Tracey, Kevin and Kyle, wanted to honour their father’s name and his love for the game of hockey. Through this title sponsorship of the Hall, the Ted Knight Saskatchewan Hockey Hall of Fame will remain a hub for hockey in the province and honour those individuals that have made a lasting impression on Saskatchewan hockey.

Ted Knight was born in Selkirk, MB, in 1939. While he certainly made a name for himself in the automotive industry, hockey appeared to be his first passion. As a member of the Winnipeg Braves, he won the Memorial Cup in 1958. Ted and his teammates were inducted in the Manitoba Sports Hall of Fame in 2003. Knight’s passion for hockey continued when in 1986, he joined Bill Hicke, Morley Gusway, Jack Nichol and Huddy Bell in purchasing the Regina Pats. Knight remained a co-owner for 10 years.

Ted, along with his sons Kevin and Kyle, built the Knight Automotive Group into a network of 11 locations representing 10 brands throughout Saskatchewan, Alberta and Manitoba. Ted Knight was named chairman of the Canadian Automobile Dealers Association in 1996.

“The Ted Knight Saskatchewan Hockey Hall of Fame is excited to welcome the Ted Knight family as partners in our celebration of hockey. We have been told that Mr. Knight’s passion for the game helped fuel his passion for life,” explained Blair Davidson, Cochair, Ted Knight Saskatchewan Hockey Hall of Fame. “Through their generous donation, the Knight Family has committed to celebrating those individuals whose passion for the game led them to greatness as well. “

Ted Knight’s passion for success in hockey and business personifies the hard-working people of the prairies.

The Saskatchewan Hockey Hall of Fame opened in 2012 in conjunction with the Saskatchewan Hockey Association’s 100th year celebration. The location of the SHHOF is in Swift Current at the Innovation Credit Union iplex, home of the Swift Current Broncos. For more information, visit www.saskhockeyhallof
