Le­gion­naires bat­tling for play­off po­si­tion­ing

The Swift Cur­rent Home Hard­ware Le­gion­naires had mixed re­sults dur­ing two homes games last week.

Tues­day, the Le­gion­naires al­lowed the open­ing five goals in a 6-3 loss to the visiting Notre Dame Hounds.

Rhett Ev­jen led the Le­gion­naires with two goals, while Blake Ras­mu­son added a pair of as­sists. Chase Gal­lant also scored, while Maguire Scheidt and Kaedan Watkins added as­sists. Ethan Hein made 29 saves on 35 shots in the loss.

The Hounds got goals from Coal­son Wol­ford, Jhett Lar­son, Cam Rec­chi, Trey Funk, Keaton Soren­son, and Drew En­glot. Trey Deobald made 21 saves in the win.

Sun­day, the Le­gion­naires re­bounded with a 5-1 win over the visiting Prince Al­bert Min­tos.

Lo­gan Lin­klater led the way with two goals and one as­sist, while Chris­tian Al­bert­son scored twice and Ma­son Strutt also scored. Mac Gross and Ri­ley Dekowny each picked up a pair of as­sists. Joe Arntsen, Hen­drik de Klerk, and Kersey Re­ich all added as­sists.

Ja­cob Her­man picked up the win with 19 saves.

Swift Cur­rent Bron­cos’ prospect Daw­son Springer scored the only goal for the Min­tos.

The Le­gion­naires moved two points ahead of the Min­tos for fifth spot in the Saskatchewan Midget AAA Hockey League with a 23-13-1-1 record. They sat four points back of the Hounds with two games in hand.

The Le­gion­naires only have five games re­main­ing in the reg­u­lar sea­son, be­gin­ning Thurs­day when they visit the Notre Dame Ar­gos. The Le­gion­naires will also host a pair of games this week. They host the York­ton Maulers on Sun­day at 7:45 p.m. at Fairview West Arena and Mon­day at 3 p.m. at the In­no­va­tion Credit Union iplex.
