Trends Hair and Nail Studio celebrated their recent relocation from the Swift Current Mall to the Carmel Mall during a grand re-opening on Saturday afternoon.

The celebration at their #4 244 1st Ave. N.E. location allowed Trends to officially unveil the new amenities and services available at their new surroundings.

“It’s fantastic. It’s a huge relief to have the transition completely done,” explained Amanda Pilgrim, owner of Trends Hair and Nail Studio. “We moved down here beginning of August, and it’s now middle of February, so its been a long few months of renos and moving and organizing and changes. But now that the changes are here, we’re super excited to keep moving forward and keep growing.”

Their move was put in motion when Dollarama wanted to move into the quarter of the Swift Current Mall where their former salon was located.

“We had two weeks to move everything and prep and do renos and everything, and under 48 hours to get everything set up and open for business again. So I managed to unload three 16 foot trailers, get mirrors hung, stations set up, and everything that we needed to be operational - not completely finished but operational - with a bunch of help from people in the community which was fantastic,” she said.

“Now we are at our very tail end of our renos, doing the little finishing touches here and there, and then everything is completely finished.”

“We just decided that it would be a better location for us to be downtown, kind of support the small community that’s down here. Because downtown has an awesome community amongst its businesses,” she added.

Trends boasts services on two levels in the Carmel Mall. The downstairs features a bright new salon area, with eight stylist stations.

Pilgrim is also excited about the services they provide from their second floor space. They have three pedicure chairs, an increase from just one at their old location.

“So now if you want to do a girls afternoon you can come hang out and get pedicures done,” she said.

“We have our barbering room for men to come into and get straight blade shaves, we do facial and head as well.”

There is also a waxing room, and eyelash and relaxation massage room in their expanded space.

She is also excited about their newly opened wedding party room.

“Every wedding that’s booked through the salon gets their own private room. There’s two stylist stations and a make-up station up there as well. So they get to come in for the morning, hang out while they get their hair done for the wedding, they all get to be together and they’re not disrupted by anybody downstairs in the salon, or vice versa.”

The family friendly salon is open seven days a week.
