Cypress Internal Medicine Clinic holds grand opening

-

The welcoming atmosphere of the newly opened Cypress Internal Medicine Clinic was clearly on display at the opening ceremony of the clinic on February 26.

The newly opened internal medicine clinic, located at 2021 Saskatchewan Drive across from the Cypress Regional Hospital, is designed to make an important first impression.

“The conception, design, construction and timely delivery of this architectural masterpiece is an opportunity to demonstrate our belief that a very cozy environment is an essential requirement in top notch medical practice,” explained Isaac Akinfiresoye who is the Managing Director of Diving Blessing Inc.

“When you walk in and the place is well organized you have a feeling that you’re going to get a good treatment here,” he explained. “Right from there you have the right perspective of what you’re going to get from here. Sometimes you could have the right diagnosis, you could have the right treatment. But if in your mind you’re not convinced, it could be a challenge.”

The building is a partnership of two Swift Current based incorporations, Divine Blessing Investments Inc. (Isaac Akinfiresoye and

Dr. Alexandra Akinfiresoye) and Swift Data Consulting Inc. (James Serwadda-luwaga and Dr. Rosemary Serwadda).

Cypress Internal Medicine Clinic has four internal medicine specialists, Dr. Alexandra Akinfiresoye, Dr. Rosemary Serwadda, Dr. Tadeyo (Ted) Khonje and Dr. Robin Colwell.

They also have the capability to teach Medical Residents at their location.

Additionally, they have adjoining leasable space to house complimentary services. The Provincial Sleep Group has relocated their Swift Current operation into the building to operate their sleep apnea equipment business from.

“For doctors working here, you need a very pleasing environment to practice your trade. That’s equally important.”

Construction of the building began back on March 2, and substantial completion was done by November 30.

Akinfiresoye notes that being situated across from the Regional Hospital is an ideal location for their clinic.

“I think this is the best location for this type of clinic. It’s easy when you’re referred to Cypress Internal Medicine, you know where to go.”

As the location is a clinic for internists, all their patients must be referred in order to make appointments.

“You need to be referred to a doctor here. It’s not a walk-in clinic. You have to go to your family physician, and then if it’s something that needs to be followed up then you would be referred to an internist. So an internist is like a gateway between other specialities, like a cardiologist and other specialities.”
