XTREME BULLS INVITATIONAL A HIT
Edgar Durazo covered both bulls he drew to win the Cody Snyder Xtreme Bulls Invitational on Saturday.
Mexico’s Edgar Durazo rode both of his bulls to win the Cody Snyder Xtreme Bulls Invitational in Swift Current on Saturday.
Durazo, 27, had one of nine qualified rides in the Long-go when he totaled 83 points on Mr. Legit.
Durazo was one of only two eight-second rides in the Championship Round when he scored to 88.5 points, to finish ahead of Ty Ellis, who earned 86.5 points.
“I feel very blessed to be here. It was definitely a blessing to win. I drew two pretty good bulls and did my job, that’s all I can do is keep riding them. It’s awesome. A nice little town, lots of support here,” said the native of Moctezuma, Mexico.
Durazo said he didn’t know much about the Vold Rodeo bull Strong Arm, who he drew in the championship round, but he did get an inside tip from the stock contractor.
“He told me that bull he go down on the front every time, so do your best to take him out because he won’t get up. I pulled my rope and as soon as I pulled it he go down and never stand up. So I just take my wrap and get him out that was the best that I could do because he’s so good. It felt good riding him.”
Durazo took home $5,136 for his championship performance in Swift Current.
Durazo had competed in a Cody Snyder event in Swift Current four years ago and finished in the top five. He said his season is off to a good start in 2019.
“I’m looking forward to this year to have the best year.”
