18U AAA 57’s all even in the SPBL

The Swift Cur­rent 18U AAA 57’s split home and road dou­ble head­ers to move to 7-5 in the Saskatchew­an Premier Base­ball League over the week­end.

The 57’s put to­gether three mul­ti­ple-run in­nings in the Satur­day opener to win 8-1 over the Saska­toon Di­a­mond­backs.

Quinn Pate­naude al­lowed only four hits and one run over 5.1 in­nings to lead the 57’s to the win. He also sin­gled, walked, scored, and had two runs bat­ted in.

Mac Gross sin­gled twice, scored, and added two RBI’S. Ethan Mur­doch also had a two-hit out­ing with one run scored. Nolan Klein dou­bled, walked, scored twice, and had one RBI in the win.

The 57’s made six er­rors in the sec­ond game and lost 15-5.

Pate­naude sin­gled twice, scored, and knocked home three runs. Mur­doch dou­ble, sin­gled, and scored in the loss.

Sun­day, the 57’s re­turned to the win col­umn with a 10-4 vic­tory over the host South­east Twins. Jack­son Fraser earned the win as he struck out nine over five in­nings while al­low­ing seven hits and three runs. Kelsey Rokochy earned the save as he struck out four over the fi­nal two in­nings.

The 57’s knocked out 10 hits and walked 11 times to score 10 runs. Hunter John­son led the 57’s with three hits, in­clud­ing a triple, two runs scored, and three RBI. Rokochy was all over the base paths with two hits, two walks, and two runs scored. Brody Alexan­dre was two-for-two with two walks, a stolen base, a run scored, and one RBI. Klein sin­gled, walked and fin­ished with three RBI. Mac Gross sin­gled, walked three times, stole a base, and scored twice.

In game two, the 57’s fought back from a four-run deficit but lost in 8-7 walkoff fash­ion. Rokochy led the of­fense with three hits and two runs scored. Cash Arntsen sin­gled, walked, scored, and had three RBI.

The third-place 57’s are on the road on Satur­day to visit the sec­ond-place Regina White Sox (8-2) for a pair of games. They host the White Sox on Sun­day for a dou­ble header begin­ning at 11:30 a.m. at Mitchell Field.
