Southwest students receive Saskatchewan Youth Apprenticeship Industry scholarships
A handful of Southwest students were recently announced as winners of Saskatchewan Youth Apprenticeship (SYA) Industry Scholarships.
Province wide, this year’s awards were presented to 100 graduating high school students from 72 different communities. Students receiving the scholarships were required to complete the Saskatchewan Youth Apprenticeship program and are planning to embark on a career in the skilled trades.
In order to utilize their $1,000 scholarships, students must demonstrate they are actively pursuing a career in the skilled trades within two years of graduation. They can achieve this by completing a pre-employment program or by registering as an apprentice within the province and successfully complete Level 1 technical training.
Each year, educators co-ordinating the Saskatchewan Youth Apprenticeship program in their schools are invited to nominate graduating students for the scholarships.
