57’s reach all-star break in third spot
The Swift Current 57’s have been one of the hottest teams in the Western Canadian Baseball League in recent weeks as they emerged from the all-star break with an 18-11 record in third spot in the Eastern Division.
Wednesday, the 57’s were limited to six hits during an 8-2 loss to the visiting Medicine Hat Mavericks. Jaymon
Cervantes got the complete game victory as he allowed only one earned run over nine innings.
Kiel Krumwiede homered for the 57’s, while left fielder Breyden Eckout had two hits, including a double.
Ryo Takenaka pitched two scoreless innings in relief.
Thursday, the 57’s resumed a weather postponed contest in Melville. They were trailing 4-0 and scored once in a 4-1 loss.
The two teams also played their regular scheduled game and the 57’s scored six runs in the second inning on their way to an 8-5 road win. Tanner Holen doubled and finished with three RBI and one run scored. Ryan

RBI. Eckout singled twice, walked, scored, and had one RBI. Left-fielder
Ian Mcintyre also hit a solo home run. Krumwiede singled, walked, and scored twice from his lead-off spot.
Starter Isiah Campa earned the win with three scoreless innings, allowing four hits while striking out four.
Diego Jordan and Garrett Alexander added scoreless relief appearances to lock down the win.
Friday, three pitchers held the visiting Medicine Hat Mavericks to two hits in a 7-4 victory to end their seven-game winning streak.
Starter Brandon Oneill allowed two hits, three walks, and four runs, only two that were earned. Reliever Garrett Hawkins got the win with three hitless innings while striking out three. Garrett Alexander earned the save with a scoreless ninth inning.
The 57’s knocked out 12 hits and worked seven walks in the win. Designated hitter Alex Stinnett singled twice, walked, scored, and had one
RBI. Eckout singled twice, scored, and added two RBI’S. Holen finished with a single, a double, and two RBI’S.
Vinny Margiotta and Mcintyre also added two-hit outings.
The 57’s host the Edmonton Prospects tonight at Mitchell Field. They will be in Lethbridge to face the Bulls on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
They also visit the Regina Red Sox on
Monday and the Yorkton Cardinals on Tuesday and Wednesday.
