Parsonage places second at Calgary Stampede

Maple Creek’s Jared Parsonage took on the world’s best cowboys and bulls and placed second in Bull Riding at the Calgary Stampede Rodeo on Sunday.

Parsonage, 26, opened championship Sunday with an 85.5-point ride on Night Shift to place second in the 10-cowboy field with one of four qualified rides. Jess Lockwood (Volborg, MT) won the performance with 91.5 points on Lil Shorty, while Jose

Vitor Leme (Ribas Do Rio Pardo,

MS) and Sage Steele Kimzey (Strong

City, OK) also qualified for the final round.

Parsonage faced Grey Tower III and earned 89 points in his final ride to place second behind Kimzey, who rode Night Moves for 92.5 points, while Lockwood and Leme were both bucked off. Parsonage earned $25,000, while Kimzey collected $100,000.

Parsonage had opened the Stampede in Pool A with a win on July 5 with 86.5 points on High Five to top the 10-man group.

Saturday, Parsonage placed sixth with an 83.5-point ride on Blind Spot to move to second in the standings.

Sunday, Parsonage moved back into top spot with a second-place finish after riding Blow Me Away for 87 points.

Monday, he was bucked off Nickle

Package but placed third in Pool A with $10,750 in earnings.

Parsonage, a fifth year pro, is currently ranked number one in PBR

Canada National Standings with 2,080.82 points, 467.5 points ahead of his next closest competitor. He has ridden 25 of 40 bulls at 20 events during the 2019 season. He is currently ranked 53rd in the PBR World
