U12 Sonic win bronze in Leader

The U12 Sonic softball team was in Leader for the Softball Saskatchew­an

South Sask C tournament.

The Sonic finished the tournament with a 3-3 record, good for third place.

The Sonic started the weekend with a 20-8 win over the Indian Head Angels. Catcher/third baseman Emma Murdoch was player of the game for the

Sonic.

Day two was a grind for the Sonic as they had three games on the schedule. They started the day with an 18-11 win over the Southeast Cosmos. Pitcher/shortstop Bree

Pavely was named player of the game for the Sonic.

The second game Saturday was a tight affair against the

Kindersley Royals in which the Sonic fell 9-7. Pitcher/ shortstop Abbey Arntsen was the Sonic player of the game.

The Sonic wrapped up the day against a strong host team from Leader and lost another close game 7-4 to the Expos. Right fielder Taya

Shotter was named player of the game for the Sonic.

The semi-final game was a rematch against the Kindersley Royals. Another tight game between the two teams resulted in a 12-10 loss for the Sonic with pitcher/shortstop Arntsen being named player of the game.

In the bronze medal game the Sonic faced the Indian

Head Angels. The Sonic came away with a 15-6 win. Left fielder Samantha

Rempel was named player of the game.

The Leader Expos topped the Kindersley Royals 10-9 in the championsh­ip game.

The final standings were: 1. Leader Expos (6-0) 2. Kindersley Royals (4-2) 3. Swift Current Sonic (3-3)

4. Indian Head Angels (1-5)

5. Southeast Cosmos (0-4)

The Swift Current U12

Sonic finished their season with an overall record of 116-1.
