Bertram tops Kyle Community Rodeo
Southwest cowboys were littered across the leaderboard at the Kyle Community Rodeo on August 10-11.
Maple Creek’s Brady Bertram won Bareback as he conquered Jail Break for 77 points to claim $495. Blake Link, also from Maple Creek, tied for fifth with 69 points on New Town for $119.
Three Southwest cowboys were in the Tie Down Roping money, led by Swift Current’s Blaine Switzer in second spot in 11.5 seconds for $582. Lucky Lake’s Tyler Getz followed in fourth spot in 12.1 seconds for $340. Swift Current’s Keith Folk was right behind him in fifth in 17.6 seconds for $218.
Three of the top six Team Roping entries had one Southwest cowboy on them. Waldeck’s Scott Mcleod worked with Travis Nickolson (Irvine, AB) to place second in 5.8 seconds for $1,684. Swift Current’s Chad Feil teamed with Jared Pancoast (Cypress County, AB) to place fourth in 6.0 seconds for $982. Getz and Kevin Facca (Wiseton) tied for fifth in 6.3 seconds for $491.
Three Mankota cowgirls were also in the Ladies Barrel Racing money. Karli Cowie finished second in 14.05 seconds for $648. April Williamson placed fourth in 14.15 seconds for $453. Kassidy Williamson followed in seventh spot in 14.31 seconds to pocket $162.
Maple Creek’s Sydney Murphy placed second in Junior Girls Barrel Racing in 14.6 seconds for a $162 payday.
Kade Cheney added a second-place finish at home in Novice Bareback with 69 points for $93.
Maple Creek’s Adam Gilchrist placed third in Saddle Bronc with 75 points aboard Sandhill Saturday for $288. Piapot’s Casey Bertram tied for fourth with 74 points on City Stars for $72.
Two members of Kyle’s Hantelman family were in the Steer Wrestling money. Harrison Hantelman finished fourth in 6.5 seconds for $302. Chad Hantelman was fifth in 6.6 seconds for $194.
The Canadian Cowboys Association is back in the region this weekend for the Outlook Riverbank CCA Rodeo on Friday and Saturday.
