Goddard earns numerous awards at major AQHA championship in Las Vegas
Swift Current’s Abby Goddard brought home a long list of awards from her performance at the 2019 American Quarter Horse Association Level 1 West World Championship in Las Vegas on September 25 to 29.
This major competition featured over 1,300 entires vying for 93 championship titles in a variety of western, English and halter events.
Goddard was entered into 13 different class events during a busy competition which attracted hundreds of entries from the western United States and Canada. Going into the show she and her horse “Macs Smokin Hot, AKA Elvis” had their sights on at least one call back (top 15 placement) in the 13 classes she was entered into. She surpassed that goal by exceeding all expectations by bringing home a Reserve Rookie All-around Championship Title, and bronze finish in All-around 14 to 18 years old.
She achieved that by earning a trio of runner-up placings. In a field of 17 competitors she earned the Reserve Championship Title in the English Hunter Under Saddle category. She finished as Reserve Champion among a total of 19 entries in the Rookie English Equitation category. She also earned a Reserve Champion finish in the Youth Western Pleasure (age 14-18) - Level 1 Finals.
She also added a trio of third place finishes in the Rookie English Equitation, Western Pleasure, plus Western Horsemanship classes. She additionally grabbed three additional top 10 placing in rookie or 14 to 18 year old events with a fourth in Youth Western Horsemanship, a fourth in English Hunter Under Saddle. plus a seventh in Gelding Supreme Halter Showmanship.
