A total of 33 Swift Current and Herbert students made the trip to the Operation Christmas Child warehouse in Calgary to help inspect gift-filled shoeboxes before they are sent to children in Central America and west Africa. Swift Current resident Darren Kennedy has been bringing groups of young people to Calgary to volunteer with Operation Christmas Child for seven years. “The attraction is teaching our teens the value in volunteering and serving others,” Kennedy said. “And Samaritan’s Purse (which operates Operation Christmas Child) offers us a practical way to do that.” Booster readers can still help children by packing shoeboxes.
