Southwest claims four provincial badminton medals
Southwest competitors captured four medals at SHSAA Badminton Provincials in Wilkie. Hailey Coakley from Frontier School was a silver medalist in girl’s singles play, while teammate Dana Dale earned bronze. Brody Gader and Ty Onerheim from SCCHS won silver in mixed doubles. The Fox Valley duo of Austin Dirk and Spencer Kosolofsky won silver in boy’s doubles as grade nine rookies.

Bantam AA Indians celebrate repeat championship
The Swift Current AA Bantam Indians defended their 2009 provincial title with five straight wins in Yorkton. They defeated the Prince Albert Royals 7-2 in the championship final and outscored their opponents 58-33 overall.
AUGUST
Indians sweep Sox for championship
The Swift Current Indians clinched their first Western Major Baseball League championship since 2006 with a 7-2 win to sweep the Regina Red Sox two games to none.
The Indians finished the playoffs with eight wins and only one loss as they finished the 2010 season with league leading 30-12 regular season record. The team’s Playoff MVP was relief pitcher Joey Evans, who pitched 11 scoreless innings in six playoff appearances.
Midget Indians win Western Canadians
The Swift Current Midget Indians won the Western Canadian AA Midget Baseball Championship in Newton, B.C. with a 4-3 win over host B.C. in the championship final.
OCTOBER Mcleod named ‘All Around Cowboy’
Waldeck’s Tyce Mcleod, at only 13-years-old, was named the Canadian All Around Cowboy at the Canadian High School Rodeo Finals in Virden, MB with the most points among all competitors.
NOVEMBER
Swift Current to host the Saskatchewan Hockey Hall of Fame
Swift Current and the Credit Union iplex will be home to a newly created Saskatchewan Hockey Hall of Fame in 2012. The inaugural induction will take place in Swift Current in 2012 and will coincide with the 100th anniversary of the Saskatchewan Hockey Association.
Fox Valley Legends three-peat at 2A provincials
The Fox Valley Legends dominance of the provincial volleyball landscape continued in Medstead as they won their third consecutive 2A boys provincial title.
