Kosolofski caps career with third straight provincial title

Fox Valley’s Spencer Kosolofski capped an incredible badminton career with a third straight gold medal at SHSAA Provincial­s in Wilcox. He won a provincial gold with mixed doubles partners Shannon Bakanec.

JUNE

CHL moves to ban import goaltender­s

It is possible that Eetu Laurikaine­n will be the final European goaltender to ever suit up for the Swift Current Broncos. Addressing a perceived lack of quality goaltendin­g in Canada, the CHL announced that goaltender­s will only be allowed to be selected in the first round of this year’s Import Draft, the final year they will be eligible to be selected.

JULY

Blue Jackets take Heathering­ton in second round

Swift Current Broncos defenceman Dillon Heathering­ton was selected in the second round, 50th overall during the NHL Entry Draft. He became the highest drafted Bronco in 13 years. Broncos add Honka in import draft

The Broncos selected Finish defensemen Julius Honka with the 32nd pick in the 2013 CHL Import Draft.

Mosquito Indians three-peat at AA Provincial­s

The Swift Current Mosquito Indians capped an incredible season with a third straight Provincial AA baseball championsh­ip.

AUGUST

Chambers wins PGA provincial championsh­ip

Jeff Chambers of the Elmwood Golf and Country Club came out on top of 43 other golfers at the PGA Saskatchew­an Championsh­ip in Prince Albert on July 29-30.

NOVEMBER

Fox Valley wins first girls volleyball provincial title

The Fox Valley Legends girls volleyball team are now front and centre after a dominating gold medal performanc­e at the 1A SHSAA Provincial Championsh­ip in Glentworth. The Fox Valley girls won a gold medal for the first time in school history.

Switzer and Williamson win CCA finals Hazenmore’s Chanse Switzer and Mankota’s Kassidy Williamson topped the Junior Steer Riding and Junior Girls Barrel Racing events respective­ly at the CCA’S 50th anniversar­y event.
