A look back at a championship filled decade of sports
Sharon Hogg’s passion and dedication to baseball in Swift Current will be remembered for years to come after a Mosquito baseball field on 19th Avenue NE was named after the longtime volunteer. Hogg passed away from cancer late last year but her commitment to ball led the City of Swift Current and Swift Current Minor Baseball to name the diamond Sharon Hogg Field in her memory at a ceremony on July 19 attended by her family.
SEPTEMBER Kirkpatrick reaches playoffs at World Mixed Curling Championship
The Max Kirkpatrick rink from the Swift Current Curling Club advanced all the way to the quarter-finals at the 2015 Mixed World Curling Championships in Berne, Switzerland.
The Kirkpatrick rink finished the round robin with a 6-2 record, placing in a three-way tie for top spot in Group B with Germany and Norway.
They bowed out in the quarter-finals following an 8-3 loss to Russia.
The rink featured Kirkpatrick at skip, third Jolene Campbell, second Chris Haichart and lead Teejay Haichert.

Ardens win bronze on home field The Swift Current Comp Ardens soccer team played three wildly entertaining games at the 3A SHSAA Provincials and emerged from the weekend with a bronze medal. It was the Ardens fourth medal in 21 years and first since they won silver in 2012.
NOVEMBER
Shadows end championship drought with comeback win
The host Shaunavon Shadows engineered a thrilling comeback to defeat the Delisle Rebels 42-28 to win the SHSAA nine-man football provincial title Saturday. The Shadows trailed 14-0 after one quarter but then scored 42 of the next 66 points to capture the team’s first provincial title in 33 years. provincial champions
March went out with a golden glow for the Swift Current Peewee AA Broncos as they turned in a come-frombehind performance to win the SHA Peewee AA Provincial Championship.
JUNE
Broncos Induct Kennedy
The Swift Current Broncos inducted Sheldon Kennedy into the team’s Hall of Fame in a ceremony that was about far more than his impressive point totals while in the Western Hockey League.
Lamb leaves Broncos for AHL Mark Lamb’s seven season tenure with the Swift Current Broncos came to an end last week when it was announced he will be the head coach of the Tucson Roadrunners, the Arizona Coyotes’ AHL affiliate.
