The search for Manny Viveiros’ replacement has come to an end. The Swift Current Broncos announced on Wednesday that they have hired Dean Brockman as their Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations.
SEPTEMBER Friesen wins bronze with Team Canada
Swift Current’s Braedon Friesen won bronze with Canada’s Junior National Volleyball Team at the NORCECA U21 Men’s Continental Championship in Havana, Cuba.
NOVEMBER Colts win provincial silver; bronze for Legends
Fox Valley hosted the girls 1A provincial volleyball championship on November 16-17. After finishing round robin pool play at 2-2, they went on to beat Ecole Mathieu in the quarter final, but they lost to Rose Valley in the semi-final. The hometown Legends won the bronze medal match over Vonda with a thrilling win (26-24 and 2523)
The Swift Current Comp. Colts were perfect in pool play at 5A Boys Provincials in Prince Albert. They defeated Yorkton in the quarter final and then needed three sets to defeat Meadow Lake Carpenter in the semifinal. In the gold medal final the Colts settled for silver after losing to Balgonie.

Fox Valley earned a silver medal in Middle Lake/lake Lenore at the 1A boy’s provincial volleyball championship.

Swift Current’s Jeff Chambers was named the recipient of the PGA of Canada Coach of the Year award.

JUNE Dominant meet for SWAC athletes at SHSAA Provincials
It was a memorable conclusion to the high school athletics year at SHSAA Track and Field Provincials in Moose Jaw over the weekend with district, team, and individual success for Southwest Athletic Conference entries.
The Swift Current Comp. Colts and Ardens won a second straight team title with 542 points. The Colts’ Scott Joseph won five medals on his way to the Senior Boys aggregate title with 66 points.
Former Colts represent Canada on the international stage
A pair of former Swift Current Comp. Colts represented Canada at the Pan American Cup in Colima, Mexico.
Both Dylan Mortensen and Braedon Friesen suited up for Canada at the 12-team volleyball tournament with the National Men’s B Team.

Ardens win 11th straight league title
The Swift Current Comp. Ardens clinched an 11th consecutive Moose Jaw High School Soccer League championship. They added a bronze medal at 5A Provincials.
Colts back on top of Moose Jaw League
The Swift Current Comp. Colts are back on top of the Moose Jaw High School Boys Soccer League after a 3-1 win over the Moose Jaw AE Peacock Tornadoes 3-1 to clinch their third title in four seasons.
NOVEMBER Swift Current caps 2019 with another world-class event
It may still be November, but Saturday seemed to mark an unofficial conclusion to 2019 in Swift Current when the World Under-17 Hockey Challenge came to an end. The tournament, co-hosted with Medicine Hat, was the fourth and final major sporting event held in Swift Current during the calendar year.
Wildcats linemates win silver at U18 Nationals
Two members of the Swift Current Diamond Energy Wildcats helped Saskatchewan to their best ever finish at the 2019 National Women’s Under-18 Championship in Morden and Winkler, MB.
Sara Kendall (Ponteix) and Baylee Kirwan (Gull Lake) helped Saskatchewan to a silver medal at U18 Nationals.
Carnahan named WCBL Coach of the Year
Longtime 57’s coach Joe Carnahan was named the WCBL Coach of the Year after leading the team to a 38-18 record, the third best mark in the 12team league.
Colts win bronze at volleyball provincials
The Swift Current Comp. Colts remain one of the powerhouse programs in Saskatchewan boys high school volleyball after they medalled for a fourth straight year at SHSAA 5A Provincials in Regina.
The Colts won bronze to follow up on last year’s silver medal. They had won bronze in 2016, before winning a provincial title in 2017.
