Colts place second at home

The Swift Current Comp. Senior Colts basketball teams won two of three games on home court to place second at the Doug Armstrong Memorial Invitation­al Tournament over the weekend.

The Colts opened the tournament with a 92-43 win over the Greenall Griffins. Aussie Wiebe led the Colts with 22 points, followed by 18 from Tanner Scott and 10 from Rhett Vavra.

The Colts added an 82-80 win over the Estevan Elecs on Saturday morning. They trailed 19-7 after one quarter but worked their way back for the comeback win.

Scott paced the attack with 20 points, followed by 14 from Carl Soriano. Carlos Dungca and Karter Duclos each added 11 points.

The Colts lost their final game 93-76 to the Warman Wolverines. Wiebe led the Colts with 19 points, followed by 14 from Scott and nine from Griffin Duncalfe.

The Colts (9-8) will head to Yorkton on Jan. 31 - Feb. 1 for the York City Classic.

The SCCHS Ardens won their first two games to place fourth out of 16 teams at the Moose Jaw Invitation­al Tournament.

They opened the weekend with a 51-47 win over the Weyburn Eagles, led by 18 points from Jenna Sabine and 15 from Brooklyn Choo-foo.

The Ardens followed up with a 48-33 win over the Moose Jaw Central Cyclones. Sabine led the Ardens with 17 points, followed by 14 from Veda Gottselig.

The Ardens dropped the semi-final 53-27 to North Battleford Comp. Tiana Knight and Kat de Klerk each notched six points in the loss.

The Ardens closed out the tournament with a 76-40 loss to Moose Jaw AE Peacock. Sabine finished with 10 points, while Gottselig chipped in eight.

The Ardens (10-7) will be in Regina for a tournament on Jan. 31 - Feb. 1.
