Naturopathic Medicine Week proclaimed in Swift Current
A video presentation on the growing field of Naturopathic Medicine was delivered at the May 19 Swift Current City Council meeting where council proclaimed the week of May 24 to 30 as Naturopathic Medicine Week in Swift Current.
The video by Leshia Ferguson representing the Saskatchewan Association of Naturopathic Doctors highlighted the spotlight now being given to naturopathic medicine.
“Naturopathic Medicine Week 2020 establishes naturopathic medicine as a distinct system of primary care that addresses the root cause of illness or disease, and promotes health and healing using natural therapies,” she explained during the video.
She noted the number of both patients and naturopathic doctors is on the increase, and there are now over 2,400 naturopathic doctors practicing in every Canadian province.
“The more than 2,400 naturopathic doctors across the country continue to be an emerging answer to Canada’s healthcare concerns.”
She added that naturopathic doctors are experiencing greater recognition as healthcare practitioners and as experts in the field of natural and preventative medicine. More research is emerging that supports the therapy used by naturopathic doctors.
“Naturopathic medicine is meeting the health needs of an ever increasing number of Canadians,” Ferguson said.
