Hutterite community appreciates support from across the Southwest
Editor:
As a member of the Hutterite community in the Southwest region of Saskatchewan, I feel it imperative to write, for not only myself, but or our communities as a whole.
First, I want to say what a pleasure it is to see so many friendly faces and nods of “good day” directed towards us. This is especially apparent since the Saskatchewan Health Authority deemed it essential to single out our communities and put them in the spotlight, in effect stigmatizing us as a people. Your effort in trying to help ease the pressure certainly helps minimize the negative fallout this reporting has had on our populace.
Also, for our members who, having been raised in a cloistered society, and having to travel to a centre periodically for shopping, appointments and at times commit social flubs when dealing with and interacting with other people; thank you for understanding that they may feel apprehensive and out of their comfort zone when away from their daily and familiar setting.
Last but not least, to the businesses and professionals who go out of their way to show their appreciation for what Hutterite communities try to do to help local trade, local and global charities, and of course trying to be helpful neighbours in our own neck of the woods. The RCMP officer who so graciously overlooks an obvious infraction, citing his appreciation for our efforts. Healthcare professionals, legal and accounting firms. Teachers who travel to teach our children. Agriculture and feed industries. Neighbours. And the list goes on, too many to mention by name. You know who you are. Thank you!
