Pharmasave Swift Current undergoes change as Mann assumes new duties

A familiar face behind the Swift Current Pharmasave pharmacy counter over the past two decades will be less visible to customers after taking over responsibility for a network of over 100 pharmacies stretching from Manitoba to Vancouver Island.

Swift Current’s Jahnaya Mann has been appointed the Director of Pharmacy at Rubicon Pharmacies, but the wellknown local pharmacist will still be periodically sharing her skills at Pharmasave.

Mann, who first started at Pharmasave back in 1999, will now be overseeing a network of 102 Rubicon pharmacies across Western Canada. She had been a partner at the local Pharmasave dating back to 2005 or 2006, and had been working in her new duties since October 2020.

“It’s been such an absolute pleasure to serve and care for the residents of Southwest Saskatchewan and get to know them over the past two decades. I really love going to work every day because of all of the people that I get to take care of. It’s kind of like going to your favourite spot and seeing all your friends, and some who definitely have become family,” Mann admitted during a recent interview.

She wanted to take the opportunity to pass along her thanks to her many customers who she has gotten to know so well since she started in 1999.

“I wanted to say thank you for supporting me and trusting in me, and giving me the honour of caring for them over the years. It’s just been an absolute pleasure and an honour to be their pharmacist.”

“We have such an awesome pharmacy team here that works diligently to make sure that they’re getting the right drug, in the right dose, at the right time so that they can be well and healthy.”

“Over the past few years the role of pharmacists has really changed drastically to more like front-line healthcare professionals that are not just drug experts but also able to assess and prescribe for some of their urgent healthcare needs.”

With Mann assuming her new responsibilities, Tenille Gering is returning to Pharmasave to assume the Store Operator responsibilities.

“They’re in great hands. Just like the Chilton’s and Heeg’s passed on the leadership of the store here to me, I’m passing it onto a very capable and caring young lady,” Mann said.

Additionally, Shar Nickol remains as Front Store Manager to continue their strong focus on customer service.

“I just wanted the community to know that our awesome team is full capable of continuing to support them in the way that they’re used to being cared for. Although I’ll miss seeing them everyday, I still will be here working as a staff pharmacist now and then. And I really look forward to seeing them and staying in touch and responding to their needs.”

Mann will be working from her home office in Swift Current, but will be working once a week in the pharmacy, which is one of the busiest in Western Canada.

“I want to stay engaged. I want to keep my skills so that I can continue to offer that expertise to other stores and newer operators and newer managers as I travel around.”
