Saskatchewan Prevention Institute has declared Bicycle Safety Week to be held May 1622. The theme is “Ready to Ride!” Cycling is a great form of transportation and recreation for every age group and promotes improved health, physical activity, and is a great way to be social and have fun. However, cycling is an activity that requires specific skills and behaviours to reduce one’s risk of injury, and young cyclists need to be taught these safety practices. Bike Safety Week is a great time to review and educate our children and the community about the importance of safe cycling for all.

The City of Swift Current, in partnership with the Saskatchewan Health Authority, is promoting Bike Safety Week by offering an educational video and a fun contest! This video shows proper helmet fitting, bike inspection, hand signals as well as cycling skills on one of the Swift Current
