Locals represent well at Canadian High School Finals

The Southwest was well represente­d at the Canadian High School Rodeo Finals in Swift Current.

Maple Creek’s Carter Udal won Senior Saddle Bronc with three qualified rides for 35 points. He opened his rodeo with a 64-point effort to tie for second. Udal followed up with a 62-point ride to place fourth. He clinched his national title with a 60-point ride to tie for top spot on the final day.

James Perrin, also from Maple Creek, placed sixth in Senior Saddle Bronc. He tied for first on day two with a 66-point ride.

Cadillac’s Brooke Lang was one of the top Southwest competitor­s in action. She placed second overall in Senior Barrel Racing. Lang opened the rodeo with a fourth-place time of 17.039 seconds. She won Barrels on day two in 16.861 seconds. Lang was fifth in the final go round in 17.269 seconds to finish one point behind Riley Beier for top spot in the event.

Lang also placed second in Breakaway Roping with 24.5 points. She was second on day one in 3.0 seconds and fourth on day two in 3.8 seconds.

Mcmahon’s Grace Giesbrecht placed second in Senior Pole Bending with 23 points. She was third on day one in 21.149 seconds and won the third go round in 21.231 seconds.

Mankota’s Kiera Williamson placed sixth overall in Junior Barrel Racing with 14 points. She was fourth in the second go in 17.265 seconds and fourth again in the third go in 17.417 seconds.

Maple Creek’s Tate Beierbach placed fifth overall in Junior High Chute Dogging with 19.50 points. He was fifth on day two in 7.7 seconds and then tied for second on the final day in 5.0 seconds.

He also placed sixth in Junior Tie Down Roping with 14 points. The Maple Creek cowboy was second in the final go round in 14.1 seconds.

Beierbach had his top showing in Ribbon Roping in third spot with 29 points. He was seventh on day one in 18.5 seconds. Beierbach improved to fourth in 13.5 seconds and then placed second in 9.1 seconds in the final go.

He was also sixth in Goat Tying. He was ninth on day one in 14.1 seconds. He placed 10th in 13.8 seconds on day two. Beierbach con- cluded the rodeo with a first-place showing on day three in 10.5 seconds.
