Pharmasave Swift Current has once again found themselves in the SCBEX winners circle.

Pharmasave has earned their sixth Swift Current Business Excellence Award by earning their third Chamber Business of the Year award in the 23 year history of the SCBEX program. Pharmasave previously won Business of the Year in 2002 and 2014. They also boast the record for most SCBEX awards over the years, having been inducted into the Business Hall of Fame in 2010, having won the Employer of Persons With Disabilities in the first year that category was included in 2016, plus earning a SCBEX Customer Service Award in 2000.

Swift Current and District Chamber of Commerce CEO Karla Wiens noted this year’s award is in recognition of their continued service to the community.

“Pharmasave over the years has expanded and diversified as well. You can go in there and from healthcare advice to prescriptions to jewellery to getting a delicious coffee. It has and will continue to be a pillar of our community as well. This last 18 months the support and advice and reassurance that the staff of Pharmasave has given to many citizens of our community it is heartwarming and it is very much appreciated,” Wiens said.

The 13-member Chamber Board of Directors selected Pharmasave as the winner by secret ballot during their September 15 board meeting.

“It’s pretty exciting. I feel like there’s so many people that have come together to make this happen. Our team is so huge. It seems like every year it gets bigger and bigger and bigger, and it takes a multitude of people to be successful at this,” admitted Jahnaya Mann, Pharmacist and Director of Pharmacy at Rubicon Pharmacies. “Over the years we’ve been so fortunate to have just a gifted group of people.”

She said having won a series of SCBEX awards over the years points to the solid foundation on which the business currently rests.

“It’s wonderful to see the legacy of this store continuing. It started out with the Heeg’s and the Chilton’s who built just such a fantastic customer service based business, focussed completely on taking care of the community that takes care of us.”

“This is really overwhelming. We honestly didn’t expect it at all and are completely humbled by this award.”

Pharmasave has been in operation in Swift Current since 1964 and they have operated out of their current expanded location since 2006. They were also an essential business that operated during every day of the COVID-19 pandemic.

“It’s a testament to the great stewardship from the original owners, the support from the community. We can’t deny the fact that we worked really hard to be open,” she said. “I heard somebody earlier say they loved the hours, well it’s a big commitment from our part to be available, but it also brings us such long and lasting relationships with our customers. There’s nothing like that feeling of someone needing your help at five to midnight, and just knowing they can get the necessary medications to help their child get on the path to wellness.”
