With registrations spanning from Porcupine Plain to Maple Creek, and all areas in between, the second annual Superhero Bowl: Walk, Wheel, Run in support of Saskabilities was a success in not only dollars raised, but in participant recruitment across the province.

“We were overwhelmed once again by the support we had from people not just across the province, but donors from across the country,” noted Community Relations Coordinator Candace Toma. “Walk, Wheel, Run has created an opportunity for Saskabilities Swift Current to engage with a new audience, while continuing to receive vital support from those who have given so much to Ability Bowl over the last three decades.”

This commitment to the legacy of fundraising in the southwest was honoured during a special ceremony at Market Square on August 16, featuring longtime Ability Bowl Team Captain, Bev Anderson, who has raised thousands for Saskabilities over the years. Anderson

presented a financial contribution to Walk, Wheel, Run, and spoke passionately about her support for Saskabilities. “I think it’s a wonderful place for people to be able to go. I worked there in sewing for 20 years, and I enjoyed every minute of working with the people at the [Abilities] Centre, and it needs to be kept going!”

Fundraising in 2021, which culminated during the August 14-28 Walk, Wheel, Run efforts, yielded a total of $71,680, comprised of both cash contributions and in-kind support. The top fundraising team was Swift Current Municipal RCMP ($2,045) and the top 10 individual fundraisers (and their totals) were as follows: 1. Riley Wilson ($1,599) 2. Hayden Linsley ($1,010) 3. Jarrod Schellenberg ($1,000) 4. Mailyn Janette Leyeza ($911.70) 5. Karlson Orthner ($625) 6. Aaron Matthews ($515) 7. Chance Fenwick ($360) 8. Chris

Kornaga ($300) 9. Ryan Courtney ($290) 10. Jenita Dickie ($270).

“Saskabilities continues to be humbled by the financial support we receive,” commented Toma. “While our fundraising goal remains at $100,000 for the year, Saskabilities will continue to fundraise until we reach our target. Donations can be made anytime at www.abilitybowl.ca, and your generosity is very much appreciated.”
