City of Swift Current is seeking input to develop new Strategic Plan
City residents are being asked to submit input in developing a new Strategic Plan for the City of Swift Current.
A Citizen Survey is available at the new Speak Up Swift Current platform (https:// speakupswiftcurrent. ca/) which allows the public to provide their opinions on a variety of focus areas to help direct Swift Current’s future strategic priorities. The focus areas are: Recreation, Parks & Culture; Quality of Life; Growth & Economic Development; City Infrastructure; Transportation & Accessibility; Municipal Services; and Spending.
“We would want all the citizens to answer the survey so that we have a good cross section of what people are looking for for our future direction,” Swift Current Mayor Al Bridal said following the January 31 Swift Current City Council meeting.
City Council approved $60,000 back at their March 8, 2021 Council meeting to hire a pair of consultants to assist with developing the Strategic Plan. During the initial phases of the project the consultants received input from City Council, City Administration, along with a total of 15 community focus groups which were contacted to learn about Swift Current’s strengths, weaknesses and citizen priorities.
During this public input phase of the process, which runs through to Friday, March 25, will gather information to help develop the final version of the plan.
“We have been in the process of developing an organizational strategy that will encompass the next five years,” Bridal stated in a press release. “In order to reflect the wants and needs of our citizens within our strategy, we are encouraging as many residents and business/property owners as possible to Speak Up by taking part in our brief Citizen Survey. Every voice matters, and we can only hear your voices if you Speak Up!”
The City pointed out that survey participants will be required to register; however, the City will not share any personal data or information with third parties or utilize it for any purposes other than data mapping for survey purposes. Participants are not required to use their given name(s), address or telephone number to register; they can simply create a Username,
Password, and provide a valid Email Address and Postal Code.
Individuals and organizations can opt to provide their survey input through a printed copy by contacting
Community Services at 306-778-2787 or communityservices@swiftcurrent.ca.
As additional incentive to complete the survey there are four prizes up for grabs for those who participate. A grand prize of a $500 Swift Current Utility credit along with three runner-up prizes of $100 Swift Current Utility credits will be awarded to properly registered participants.
