SWAC badminton athletes advance in provincial playoffs
BADMINTON
Senior Sectionals were held on April 9. Cypress Hills hosted in Maple Creek, Rolling Hills hosted at the Swift Current Comp., and Whitemud was held in Shaunavon. The top four in each section advance to the SWAC Championship.
Qualifiers from Sectionals will compete at SWAC Districts on April 30 at SCCHS. Senior Regionals are on May 7 and SHSAA Provincials are on May 14.

Boys Singles: 1st - Navi Singh (SC), 2nd - Michael Liu (SC).

Boys Doubles: 1st - Harit and Hasit Desai (SC), 2nd - Carson Skazyk/tyler Lacelle (SC).
Girls Doubles: 1st - Sierra Ross/daniela Palaganas (Ponteix), 2nd - Kadence Pavely/chloe Shumaker (SC).

Junior badminton sectionals will take place
on Saturday, April 30. Cypress Hills will host in Hazlet/cabri, Rolling Hills B will host in Gull Lake, Rolling Hills A will be in Ponteix, and Frontier will be the host site for Whitemud.
The Junior SWAC district championship will be in Shaunavon on May
7.
TRACK AND FIELD
Most schools began practices on March 28, but as tradition during track and field season, Mother Nature threw a wrench into outdoor practices this past week. Fingers crossed for warmer weather soon.
All the qualifying track and field meets will be held in Swift Current. Blue Sectional meet is Tuesday, May 17 and the White Sectional meet is May 18. The SWAC District meet will be on May 25. The SHSAA Provincial Championship (gr 9-12) is June 3-4 in Regina.
