GODDU, Cary James

- Justin Buhler

31 October, 1979 – 8 April, 2022

Cary was the 2nd (middle) son born at Shaunavon Hospital, October 31, 1979. He grew up on the family farm in the Frenchville area. He is predeceased by his Grandparents: Germaine and Andre Goddu; Dorothy (Perrin) Haakenson; uncles, Fred Keisig, Henry Perrin, Fernand Syrenne, Harvey Baron, Barry Jessop, cousins Trent Perrin, Dustin Goddu; and aunt Lorraine Lacelle. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Nicole; daughters Hailey and Lilliana; parents, Clem and Linda Goddu; Clint, Shannon, Kate, Kenia, Gene and Robynne; his mother-in-law, Debbie Harvey; father-in-law, Ralph Harvey; Diane Keisig, Gloria Blair, Loren Goddu (Ming) Claudette Goddu, Phylis Baron, Gail Rode (Grant), Norma Jessop, Shirley Syrenne, Dale Perrin (Darlene), Debbie Kinnee (Wes), numerous cousins and many friends. Cary was a born fighter; he was strong, surviving an intussusception operation at 2-1/2 months old. He never cried. The doctor said he should have been screaming in pain. Cary healed quickly, but was prone to pneumonia, so he was hospitalized a lot. It had to be his mom who gave him his bottle, or he would throw it on the floor to smash it. When he was 3 years old, he had to have his tonsils out at the same time as his brother Clint. We walked into their room to see Cary standing on the top rail of his crib, jumping into Clint’s bed. He was a quick study, always watching and listening. He learned to drive a garden tractor and a motorcycle at a very young age. He started cooking meals young and could easily have been a chef. Cary attended Admiral and Shaunavon schools, and played volleyball and football. Cary was always into the latest fads, those awful pants that were so big and that hung to the knees, hairstyles from long hair to half dreadlock and half shaved, to wearing a toque all the time. He settled for a shaved head that suited him. He had a laugh that just made you feel good. You could watch a movie with him and it was so funny, but when you rewatched it wasn’t nearly as funny. It was Cary’s laugh that made you laugh. After college in Olds, AB, where he also worked at computer drafting, he would help out his boss with cows and fences on weekends. Cary moved to Victoria, where he met the loves of his life, Nicole and Hailey. Cary and Nicole were married April 1, 2010. They moved to Calgary, AB. Once Lilliana (Lilly) Rayne was born October 23, 2012, Cary’s family was complete. He was a great Dad; his eyes would light up whenever he talked about his daughters. Cary enjoyed his one-on-one time with Hailey. He was really excited and appreciated that Hailey asked him for his help in her search for her new car. Cary baked all his grandma’s cookie recipes with Lilly. He would phone home to tell us about all of Hailey’s and Lilly’s accomplishments. Lilly is a mini-cary. He loved family camping family fun days, going swimming, bowling or to the zoo. Cary made lasting friendships, no matter where he went. He always talked about his buddies. They always stayed in touch and would help each other out whenever they could. They would get together to watch the Saskatchewan Roughriders. He had many jobs, always putting his everything into the job, always leaving on good terms. He was so happy working at Raymax. He loved his bosses. Becoming General Manager meant the world to him. John, Max and Ray were so good to him. We will miss his phone calls once or twice a week to tell us about his life or checking to see how his mom and dad were doing. Cary was an organ donor, and his donations saved the lives of six people. Cary, we will miss you!! Love, Mom and Dad. In lieu of flowers donations in trust for Lilliana can be made at the TD Bank in care of Linda Goddu.

This made me cry.

I will never get to hear your ridiculous laugh or see your smile again… and this makes me cry.

I will never again get to solve the world’s problems on a 3 hour phone call or receive your obnoxiously funny text messages.

And this makes me cry.

You were a great father, husband and a friend and you will be missed by all of us.

And this makes me cry.

I am grateful to have had the honor to call you my friend. You helped make me the man I am today and especially the father I am today.

And this makes me smile and gives me strength.

Cary Goddu you have left this world far too soon and my heart is broken…

I love you, rest easy my friend. Peace.
