Pickering and Poulter named Central Division All-stars
There was plenty of positive news for the Swift Current Broncos on April 21 when goaltender Isaac Poulter and defenseman Owen Pickering were both named to the Central Division Second All-star Team.
Poulter finished third in the Western Hockey League with five shutouts in his final season with the Broncos. He also tied for seventh with a .911 save percentage to go along with his 3.00 goals against average. The Winnipeg product finished fifth in the WHL with 1,589 saves.
Pickering led all Broncos defensemen with nine goals and 24 assists in 62 games this season. The 6’5’’ native of St. Adolphe, MB was also named the Central Division Rookie of the Year.
The Broncos also learned that they will select fifth overall in the WHL Prospects Draft on May 19. The Medicine Hat Tigers will select first, followed by the Tri-city Americans, Victoria Royals, and Calgary Hitmen.
The Broncos will also select 12th and 33rd in the U.S. Priority Draft on May 18.
