The Swift Current Broncos’ losing streak reached five games last week before a home win over the Moose Jaw Warriors.

Wednesday, the Broncos were unable to overcome a five-goal deficit against one of the Western Hockey League’s top teams in a 6-3 loss to the visiting Kamloops Blazers.

The Blazers scored the opening five goals on their way to a 10th straight win while extending the Broncos untimely losing streak to four games.

The Blazers fired 24 shots on goal in the opening frame, but only led 1-0 in a Ryan Hofer power play goal.

The Blazers poured it on in the second period with goals from Logan Stankoven, Ashton Ferster, Connor Lewis, and Hofer.

The Broncos got on the board early in the third period when Josh Filmon scored 33 seconds into the frame, his team leading 34th of the season. Connor Hvidston added the Broncos second goal minutes later with a highlight reel goal, beating Fraser Minten wide and then outwaiting Dylan Ernst with a backhand deke. They brought the deficit within two goals midway through the period with a Braeden Lewis goal on a perfect pass from Sam Mcginley.
