Saskatchewan Lottery Community Grant Program funding benefits 71 applicants in Swift Current

- SCOTT ANDERSON

The City of Swift Current has approved the distribution of a total of $114,900 in funding through the Saskatchewan Lotteries Community Grant Program.

A total of 71 programs and organizations were formally approved for funding at the March 20 Swift Current City Council meeting. The funding was provided to non-profit organizations for the delivery of programs operating between April 1, 2023 and March 31, 2024.

The 71 applications had been requesting a combined $224,588, so some requests were not fully met based on the $114,900 which was available this year.

This marks the second straight year the City has delivered $114,900 in Saskatchewan Lotteries funding, but last year’s requests totalled $163,511 through 58 applications.

The Community Grant Program has a goal of providing access to sport, culture and recreation activities for local residents. A portion of the funding benefits target populations which would gain benefit from access to these programs.
