Volleyball Ardens win two tournament titles

The Swift Current Comp. Senior Ardens volleyball team remains unbeaten in 17 matches after two tournament outings.

The Ardens only dropped one set in eight matches at the University of Saskatchew­an Huskies Tournament in Saskatoon to open the season. They defeated Saskatoon St. Joseph (25-11, 25-16), Hamiota (25-7, 25-8), Clavet (25-8, 25-12), Saskatoon Bethlehem (25-16, 25-12), and Wakaw (25-19, 25-12) in the round robin.

They defeated Watrous in the quarter-final (2516, 25-10) and then edged Kipling in the semi-final in three sets (24-26, 2513, 16-14).

The Ardens downed Saskatoon Holy Cross in

the championsh­ip match 25-21 and 25-20.

The Ardens were in

Regina for Mega-volley this past weekend and did not drop a set in nine

matches to win gold.

They opened the tournament with round robin wins over Weyburn (26-24, 25-16), Harvest City (25-11, 25-5), and Thom Collegiate (25-8, 25-10).

They finished 3-0 in the re-pool as well with wins over Lumsden (25-5, 255), Moose Jaw Central (25-4, 25-14) and Yorkton (25-11, 25-16).

The Ardens dominated Regina O’neill (25-15, 25-7) in the quarter-final and then advanced past Weyburn (25-15, 25-17) in the semi-final.

The Ardens defeated Regina Leboldus (25-21, 25-18) to claim another gold medal.

Kierra Lehmann, Shaelyn Feicht, and Alivia Fraser were all named Tournament All-stars. Taylor Munro was named the MVP of the Final and Lehmann was named the Ardens’ Tournament Most Valuable Player.

The Ardens will return to tournament action this weekend in Weyburn.
