SOCCER

The SCCHS Colts and Ardens play in the Moose Jaw Soccer league against teams from across the southern province.

On Tuesday, September 26, the Colts won their match over the Moose Jaw boys. The Colts had a game scheduled for Saturday against Yorkton Sacred Heart, but the teams actually played the match the previous weekend. The SCCHS Colts lost that contest.

The SCCHS Ardens traveled to Moose Jaw to take on Yorkton Sacred Heart last Thursday. The Swift Current squad lost their second league game by a 1-0 tally. The Ardens will try to return to winning form when they take on the Weyburn Eagles in Moose Jaw. They will begin the playoffs on Thursday.

FOOTBALL

All three of our 9-man teams were on the road on Friday. Gull Lake lost to Lumsden (6-58), Shaunavon won their third straight game over Notre Dame (54-18), and Maple Creek was defeated by Moose Jaw Vanier (14-40).

The next scheduled games are on Friday, October 6: Maple Creek will host Lumsden and Gull Lake will travel to Notre Dame. The Shaunavon

Shadows will host the match up of undefeated teams versus Moose Jaw Vanier.

The Swift Current Comp. Colts earned their first win of the season on Friday in Estevan.

The Colts defeated the Elecs 39-6 to move to 1-3 in the SHSAA 5A South Rural 12-Aside League on the season.

The Colts totalled 456 yards of total offense, including 274 yards along the ground.

Ethan Priest made four catches for 79 yards and two touchdowns. Ethan Bailey ran the ball 17 times for 121 yards and two touchdowns. Jake Woods also scored a touchdown and Kye Griffin converted five extra points.

Woods ran the ball 11 times for 82 yards. Riley Wingert caught four passes for 65 yards.

Quarterbac­k Elijah Siemens finished ninefor-23 for 171 yards through the air.

The Colts’ defense held the Elecs to 60 yards of offense. Hudson Unger had one intercepti­on and returned it 50 yards.

The Colts will conclude the regular season on Oct. 14 when they visit Moose Jaw AE Peacock.

SENIOR VOLLEYBALL LEAGUE

Senior girls league games will be on Tuesdays and senior boys will play on Wednesday. Contact your school for game times.

GIRLS RESULTS

Shaunavon lost to Ponteix (0-2)(0-2). Maple Creek beat Hazlet (2-0) (2-0), Consul defeated Cabri (2-1) (2-1)and Frontier lost to Vanguard (0-2, 1-2)

League standings: 1st - Ponteix and Vanguard (tied with 12 pts), 3rd Maple Creek and Consul (tied with 9 pts).

Hosts on Tuesday, October 3 - Maple Creek will host Cabri, Hazlet will host Consul, Ponteix will host Vanguard, Shaunavon will host Frontier.

BOYS RESULTS

SCCHS defeated Herbert (2-0) and Consul (2-0). Consul beat Hazlet (2-0)

Frontier won over Shaunavon (2-0) and Cabri (2-0). Shaunavon defeated Cabri (2-0)

League standings: 1st SCCHS gr 9/10 and Frontier (tied with 12 pts), 3rd - Shaunavon (9 pts).

Hosts on Wednesday,

October 4 - Consul will host Frontier, Cabri will host Swift Current, Herbert will host Shaunavon.

CROSS COUNTRY

The SWAC cross country championsh­ip will take place on Wednesday, October 4 at the Frontier Golf Course. Frontier School will host and be the commission­ers for the event.

We have nearly 200 runners (gr 4-12) entered, the largest cross country district event in many, many years!

All the runners are put into gender groups based on grade (Pee Wee-grade 4-6, Bantam-grade 7/8), and grade 9-12 runners are grouped by age (Intermedia­te / Junior / Senior). The race distances are adjusted for each age group.

Registrati­on is at 11 a.m., course walk through at 11:30, and races will start right after the walk through (older age groups run first).

All intermedia­te, junior, and senior runners who take part will advance to the SHSAA provincial championsh­ip in Regina on October 14.
