SCCHS Colts win Moose Jaw High School Soccer League title

Congratula­tions to the SCCHS Colts who won the Moose Jaw soccer league final this past week. They put in a dominant performanc­e and won 5-0 over Moose Jaw Central in the league final.

The Swift Current Ardens played in the girls league final but lost to Yorkton. The Ardens decade plus winning streak of league championsh­ips comes to an end with this second place finish.

At the October 21-22 SHSAA Soccer Regionals, the SCCHS Ardens defeated Weyburn - 8-0 in the semi-final.

They played Yorkton Regional in the regional final, but lost a close game 2-0. By placing second, the Ardens have qualified for the SHSAA provincial championsh­ip in Yorkton October 27-28.

The SCCHS Colts were in Yorkton for their Regional on Saturday. They won their first game over Weyburn (73). The Colts played Yorkton Regional in the final. Playing a double header took a little steam out of the Colts, and they lost 2-1. But, the Colts will be at SHSAA provincial­s in Saskatoon as the second qualifier.

FOOTBALL

9-man Shaunavon football:

hosted

Moose Jaw Vanier in the league playoff game. Last time these two teams played, it was a very close score. The Shadows left no doubt in this game, winning 33-14. The Shadows will now play in the SHSAA Provincial quarter-finals.

9-man Gull Lake finished fourth in the league and took on #1 Lumsden in the playoff round. The Lions gave it all they had, but lost 64-21 to end their season.

In 12-man football the SCCHS Colts played at home vs Estevan in the Tier 2 Championsh­ip

game. The Colts put in a dominant effort and won the championsh­ip 38-8. Great way to end the season on a winning note.

Rolling Hills girls North (Herbert, Hodgeville, Gull Laker) are in Herbert Saturday, October 28: Cypress Hills boys (Cabri, Hazlet, Leader, Fox Valley)in Hazlet.

Whitemud boys (Frontier,

Shaunavon, Eastend, Consul)in Frontier.

Whitemud girls(eastend, Shaunavon, Consul, Eastend) in Eastend.

Rolling Hills boys (Ponteix, Wymark, Irwin, Herbert, Vanguard, Ecole Centennial) in Ponteix.

Rolling Hills girls South (Vanguard, Ponteix, Irwin, Ecole Centennial) in Vanguard.

Girls Results from Tuesday, October 10: Cabri over Consul (25-8, 25-18) and (25-13, 25-15), Vanguard won over Frontier (25-22, 25-22), (2518, 25-21), Ponteix over Shaunavon (25-7,25-9), (25-11,19-25,15-5), Maple Creek over Hazlet (25-17, 25-16), (15-25, 25-7, 1715).

Hosts on Tuesday, October 24 - Cabri hosts Maple Creek, Consul hosts Hazlet, Vanguard hosts Pontiex and Frontier hosts Shaunavon.

SHSAA SENIOR VOLLEYBALL PLAYOFFS

SHSAA Girls conference tournament hosts on November 4 will be 1A Cabri (Fox Valley, Hazlet, Vanguard, Frontier attending), and 3A Shaunavon (Maple Creek attending). 2A Leader girls will be on the road to play in the West Central tournament, 2A Ponteix and 2A Gull Lake will head to the South Central tournament and the 5A SCCHS Ardens will compete in Weyburn (at the Regional level).

SHSAA Boys conference tournament hosts on November 10 and 11 will be 1A Herbert (Fox Valley attending), 2A Ponteix (Cabri attending) and 2A Leader will host West Central teams. 3A Shaunavon will play at home, as will 5A Swift Current (regional level).
