Alfie Yolland, widow of George Yolland, passed away peacefully Monday, October 30, 2023 at Clover House, Swift Current, SK at the age of 89. Alfie was born in the Stewart Valley area on the farm run by her immigrant parents, Astrid & Sigvald Jorgenson. Alfie spent her entire life in the Swift Current area. She was a competent bookkeeper who worked for local farm dealerships for over 40 years. In September 1956, in St. Olaf’s Lutheran Church, she married Constable George Yolland, a young, handsome RCMP officer from Rossland, B.C. They remained married until 1997, when George suddenly passed away from a heart attack. Alfie is known in Swift Current for the commitment she had to her community and others in need. She drove seniors to appointments, cared for residents in her Bridal Run Condo, volunteered with seniors at the

Meadows, worked at the MCC Furniture Store, and served in her church community where needed. Alfie’s biggest accomplishment in life was being a mom to her two children and grandma to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved them fiercely. Friends and family were extremely important to her. Social connection was what was she lived for. She loved to dance, and spent years square dancing, was an avid and accomplished bowler, often as the top scorer. Additionally, her faith was a key part of her life, and she took great joy in telling people about Jesus. Alfie, known most recently as GG (great-grandma) is survived by her children, Don (Wendy) Yolland (Swift Current, SK) and Diane (Rod) Berreth (Strathmore, AB). She is also survived by her grandchildren, Ashley, Kelly, and Sydney, as well as Dean (Cheri), Cody (Rachel), Randi (Arrie); great-grandchildren Seger, Georgie, Charlie and Emersen; and a host of nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sisters, Marilyn (Mert), Eleanor (George) and her brother, Stanley. The Celebration of Life for Alfie Yolland was held on Saturday, November 4, 2023 at 2:00 pm from Restoration House, Swift Current, SK with Pastor Rob Winslow officiating. The Private Interment Service was held prior to the service from Mount Pleasant Burial Park, Swift Current, SK. In lieu of flowers and in memory of Alfie Yolland, donations made to the Meadows Auxiliary and Shareword Global (formerly Gideons International) would be appreciated by the family.
